Dear First Ward Resident:
It has been nice getting to know the many
wonderful residents in our ward over the last 3 1/2 years. I have enjoyed serving
as your voice and representative in township matters as the First Ward Commissioner.
Almost 4 years ago, when I campaigned for
this position, I made a few promises to you - all of which I have kept:
- I promised demolition
of the Goodhill Center. Shortly after I was elected, we hired a new solicitor
to start the process of having this eyesore in our township removed. I was relentless
in fighting for this. I promised to demolish the former Marple Grade School. Now two eyesores are gone.
- I promised
to be a good steward of your money and voted NO for a tax increase EVERY year.
- I promised
to keep you informed about what was happening in our ward and as such, provided you with updates on happenings in the First
Ward via my quarterly newsletter, my website and emails.
- I voted NO on
the resolution that would restrict public input at meetings from both residents and Commissioners. I believe it is unfair and curtails transparency.
These were all issues I promised I would
work on as your Commissioner. I set those goals for myself and the First Ward
and accomplished those goals. I have enjoyed my tenure as the voice of the First
Ward Residents but, at this time, will not be seeking re-election as your Commissioner in the May 2011 Primary Election. My term will end December 2011.
I would like to thank my Block Captains
for all their hard work over the years. They have done a great job for me and
for you. Please continue to ask
questions and attend the monthly meetings. Please also keep yourself informed
about the billboard issue, the former Gamma swim club issue and other pending issues in our township. Enjoy your summer and I’ll see you around town!
